Team Captain Dominic
Scaffidi
"I have been running about four years. I originally started running to lose
weight and improve my health and fitness level. In 2008 I did my first half marathon - the
Toronto Waterfront (Scotia) run. It took a while but I now really enjoy running and
understand the 'runner's high' people talk about. I have been investing in The Hunger
Project for about 20 years. I love the sustainable approach to empowering people to
end their own hunger - it makes a huge difference in the lives of the individuals and
their communities."

Assistant Team Captain
Martha Chan
"I don't do any exercise, and I need an excuse to exercise. This is the perfect
excuse! I never ran before, but am perfectly willing and able to train for this event. I
have been a supporter of The Hunger Project for over 15 years. This is the best return on
your investment: $50 to end hunger for one person forever!"

Dan Couvrette
"I've been a runner for about the same amount of time I've been involved with The
Hunger Project - 30 years - as a volunteer and investor. Please join us to raise money and
awareness for an organization that's always been at the forefront in making a difference
on the planet."

"I am a mother of four and have been running off and on for 14 years. I use
running to lose weight after pregnancy. I started running after my 1st
pregnancy. I lost 65lbs. I ran off35 lbs from my 2nd pregnancy doing some 5k
runs. At 38, after my 3rd child, I ran my first half marathon and lost 60 lbs and
really got hooked. My last child arrivedjust before my 40th birthday and I have since ran
it all off. (What can I say, I like to eat when I'm pregnant.)So to all you mothers out there who say you can't lose the
weight I challenge you and say YES YOU CAN! I am proud to say that my oldest son
Tyler who is 16yrs old will be running this race with me!"

"In what originally started as a challenge over five years ago, running has now
become a passion for me. There are the obvious physical benefits of course, but setting a
goal and reaching it gives me such personal satisfaction. Now being able to run
while supporting such a worthy cause makes it all the more meaningful. My motivation is
stronger than ever!"

Kista Scaffidi
"As a runner for more than 5 years I am thrilled to be part of this run. Last
year I completed 3 half marathons and am registered for my first full marathon in the
fall. This will be the first time I will be running for a cause and since I've been a
supporter of The Hunger Project for more than 20 years, it will be very meaningful."

Steve Delorme
"I am inspired by my friends Dan and Martha who are activists for The Hunger
Project and because I know in my heart that I cannot tolerate living in a world where
people die from hunger. Running for the Hunger Project is a way for me to raise awareness
of the program and contribute to its success."

Steve Blasiak
"One of the ways I want to help myself is by helping other people. I found that
The Hunger Project's concept of teaching people how to fend for themselves, then giving
them the tools to do the job is an amazing concept. As simple as it sounds, it works and I
want to help provide the "grease" to make this machine run well. Personally I've
fallen off the "health" wagon and am using this event to get re-motivated and
revitalized."

"I became interested in running when I joined my
school's rugby team in the 7th grade. At that time I was overweight and it was required
that every player run to the practice field every practice. Well, you can imagine how I
did with no previous conditioning or running experience and having to run 4km there and
back again. Every practice I was the last to make it to the field. That motivated me to
run every day. Now I am happy to help others while helping myself."

Sandy & Rachael Page
"We were to run in a 10km race on May 3rd but Rachael's school band is
going to NY the same week end. Our goal was to run the 10km in under 60 minutes and raise
$1000 for The Hunger Project. Despite having to bow out of the race we have decided to
still run the 10km on our own schedule and keep our goal for raising the $1000. We feel
very privileged to support this charity on a regular basis. With 30+ years of history, we
marvel at THP's ability to make a dollar stretch. THP boasts the ability to take $50 and
end hunger for one person, forever! Not $50/month or /year, just one lump sum of
$50-AMAZING! So please help us, help them, end hunger. "

"I run because it frees me. It frees me from my daily worries, it frees me from
my stress, and it frees me from my belief that I can't accomplish something. By
running, I not only prove to myself that I can do it, but that I will be able to do
it better the next time. This opportunity will be my first to prove to myself that I can
go the distance when I put my mind to it, and when there is a good cause to be
advanced."

"After several long years of study, I joined a fitness class by chance last Fall
and it turned out to be a life-changing experience. Since then, I have focused my efforts
on running and had planned to train for a race this Fall. However, this last-minute
opportunity to run 10K was something I felt I could not pass up, because I believe in the
cause and because I feel ready to challenge myself, even if it's sooner than I expected it
to be."
